The PowerBack Lite PL20K is a dual-trip service saver (also referred to as add-a-phase, phase restoration, auto cart, or add-a-leg) that restores a missing hot leg or missing neutral on 120/240V or 120/208V single-phase service. Aluminum frame and resin case keep it at 110 lbs, so one lineman can roll it off the truck and to the meter. 20 kVA. 200A recommended service. 160A breaker. 105°C winding shunt trip. This is the everyday 200A cart when you want the same restore as PB20K in a lighter, lower package – snow, tight side yards, and rough ground included.

Key advantages

• Dual-trip protection: Two independent trip paths. Path 1 is the 160A breaker – it opens on high current (short or severe overload). Path 2 is a 105°C sensor at the transformer winding that shunt-trips the same breaker if the core and copper overheat while current is still under the breaker rating. A breaker alone does not see slow heat from load, blocked airflow, ambient temperature, or solar export. Dual-trip does. If either path fires, PowerBack Lite disconnects itself. Leave it on-site with confidence.

• Low center of gravity: Compact aluminum wheeled base that stays planted in snow, mud, gravel, and tight spaces.

• Single-turn meter adapter: Works on ring-type and ringless meter bases. Neutral included. One turn, meter goes back on. No temporary overhead.
• Digital voltmeter: Input/output voltage at the cart so the crew confirms 120V hot-to-neutral and 240V hot-to-hot before they leave.
• Non-metallic case: Resin enclosure – no driven ground rod required.
• Optional GFI: Defeat switch for wet sites, occupied homes, or longer sits.
• Optional GPS: Track the cart after you leave it on a ticket.

PowerBack Lite vs standard PowerBack 20kVA
Same electrical job: 20 kVA, 200A service, 160A breaker, dual-trip, meter adapter. PL20K is the 110 lb aluminum/resin cart. PB20K is the 130 lb NEMA 4 stainless cart. Choose Lite when weight and agility matter. Choose stainless when you want the heavier enclosure.

How it connects
Remove the meter. Land the adapter on a ring-type or ringless base. Lock it one turn. Set the meter back on. Read the digital voltmeter – 120V hot-to-neutral, 240V hot-to-hot – then leave the unit in place. Dual-trip watches overcurrent and winding temperature until the crew comes back for the permanent fix.
