The PowerBack PB30K is a dual-trip service saver (also referred to as add-a-phase, phase restoration, auto cart, or add-a-leg) that restores a missing hot leg or missing neutral on 120/240V or 120/208V single-phase service. This is the wheeled unit when the ticket is larger than a 200A call – big residential, light commercial, or a Class 320 socket – and the path to the meter is still rollable.
Key advantages
- Dual-trip protection: Two independent trip paths. Path 1 is the 250A breaker – it opens on high current (short or severe overload). Path 2 is a 105°C sensor at the transformer winding that shunt-trips the same breaker if the core and copper overheat while current is still under the breaker rating. A breaker alone does not see slow heat from load, blocked airflow, ambient temperature, or solar export. Dual-trip does. If either path fires, PowerBack disconnects itself. Leave it on-site with confidence.
- Built to roll at 220 lbs: Stainless wheeled cart. Crew can get it off the truck and to the meter on most lots.
- Puncture-proof tires: Foam-filled, never-flat / airless tires. Driveways, gravel, mud, and storm debris will not drop the cart on a flat.
- HD 320A / CL320 meter adapter: Rated for Class 320 sockets and lever-bypass 320A meter bases. Neutral included. One turn, meter goes back on. No temporary overhead.
- Digital voltmeter: Input/output voltage at the cart so the crew confirms 120V hot-to-neutral and 240V hot-to-hot before they leave.
- Optional GFI: Defeat switch for wet sites, occupied buildings, or longer sits.
- Optional GPS: Track the cart after you leave it on a ticket.

How it connects
Remove the meter. Land the HD 320A / CL320 adapter in the Class 320 or lever-bypass base. Lock it one turn. Set the meter back on. Read the digital voltmeter – 120V hot-to-neutral, 240V hot-to-hot – then leave the unit in place. Dual-trip watches overcurrent and winding temperature until the crew comes back for the permanent fix.
